Shrine of the Owl God

On the outskirts of town, there is a little shrine. It is built with old grey stone. A small owl statue sits inside of it. The eyes of the owl are missing; two hollow dents in it's head mark were jewels might have been. Snow falls gently on the sacred place, but it is not peaceful. The Owl god's spirit is restless.

Yui tossed his raven-black hair over his shoulder and stepped closer to the shrine. His breath left in a cloud of vapor as it hit the cold air. He bit his lip in frustration.

"Why do I sense such an ominous aura?" he whispered beneath his breath. "It's as if a demon has defiled this sacred ground and poisened the air with his presence."

Yui walked up to the shrine and bowed before the shrine, uttering a short prayer as he did so.

As he began to rise, a dark figure appeared from the shadows...
